In May, 1718, Joseph married Abigail Baldwin. They had 8 children: Joseph; James (1720-unknown); Thomas (1722-1810); Abigail (1725-1762); John; Ebenezer; Mary (1733-1787); and Samuel (1735-1750).
Sometime between 1720 and 1722, Joseph, Abigail and their first 2 children moved from Milford to Durham, CT, where their other 6 children were born.
Joseph's wife, Abigail, died September 4, 1750 and is buried in Old Durham Cemetery. Following Abigail's death, Joseph married the widow, Elizabeth Lane (October, 1752) and moved to Norfolk (to the west and north of Durham) where he died October 30, 1774.
