Leota O. Godbey Cox, 80, formerly of West Lafayette, died at 12:10 AM Wednesday, April 6, 2005, at St. Vincent Hospital in Williamsport. She had resided at Country Care Nursing Home in Williamsport since June, 2001. Born Nov. 26, 1924, in Somerset, KY, she had resided in Lafayette for 55 years. She married Jeff E. Cox on May 31, 1958; he survives. Mrs. Cox was a homemaker and had also worked as a nurse's aide at Pythian Home. She was a member of the Church of God for Gospel in Crawfordsville. Surviving with her husband are two daughters, Cathy (Mrs. Ken) Smith of Attica and Tammy (Mrs. Tony) Brown of Florida; a sister, Ilean Vaught of Newcastle; 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, Isiah and Ellen Irvin Godbey, 4 brothers and 5 sisters. Services April 10, Hippensteel Funeral Home, the Rev. Leroy Hill officiating; internment Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.
