Fred L. Alexander, age 92, of Loves Park, IL passed away at 5:33 p.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2012, in OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center.

Born May 31, 1920, in Rock Falls, son of Fred M. and Rachel (nee Lee) Alexander. Veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. Married Ann C. Castanes on Feb. 8, 1942, in Huntsville, AL; she died in 2006. Married Carol Graves on Jan. 11, 2009. Employed by Seidler News Agency for 10 years and by Carnation Co. for 29 years, retiring in 1982. Member of Evans United Methodist Church, where he was head usher for more than 50 years. Fred was an avid hockey fan and supporter of Rockford Icemen JV and Varsity families. Admired and respected dearly by all his colleagues and friends. Fred enjoyed breakfast with his sales buddies on Friday mornings at Sherri's Restaurant. The most recent joy of his life was attending Hononegah High School's 2012 graduation for his grandson, Anthony, and his trip to Washington, D.C., with Vetsroll.org in 2010, accompanied by his wife, Carol.

Fred's last few years were blessed with an angel, sent by God, Carol, his wife and companion.

Loving father of Jo Ann (Dennis) Munn of Machesney Park, Christine Rubert of Loves Park and Kenneth (Debby) Alexander of Roscoe; stepsons, Tommy (Christina) Barlow of Belvidere and John Barlow, U.A.E., retired U.S. Marines; loved dearly by his grandchildren, Brent Rubert, Anastasia and Anthony Alexander, Baylee, Jessica and Connor Barlow; and several nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by parents, four sisters and one brother.

Service at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 12, in Evans United Methodist Church, 7605 N. Second St., Machesney Park. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, June 11, in Delehanty Funeral Home Ltd., 401 River Lane, and beginning at 9 a.m. Tuesday in the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Vetsroll, vetsroll.org, 1777 Gardener St., South Beloit, IL 61080; or Alzheimer's Association.
