Alfred LeRoy Braford, a resident of Falls Good Samaritan Center, died Monday, Aug. 20, 2001, at the center.

Born Sept. 14, 1919, at International Falls, he had served as a sergeant in the Military Police Platoon, 71st Infantry Division. He entered the service on Sept. 18, 1942, and was discharged on Feb. 12, 1946.

On Feb. 21, 1946, he married the former Lilly Ann Reich, who survives.

An employee of Mando and Boise Cascade for 40 years, he was a member of Koochiching Lodge No. 270, AF & AM, Eveleth Commandery of Knights Templor, Virginia Chapter No. 77, Royal Arch Masons, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2948, Koochiching Men's Garden Club, and Boise Cascade Employees Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Elmer and Nellie (Hansen) Braford, and by a sister, Ione, and brother, Leon.

In addition to his wife, Lilly Ann, he is survived by one daughter, Lori Ann and husband John Fouts, and grandchildren, Sam Fouts and Abby Fouts, all of Eagan; one son, Dennis and wife Nancy Braford and grandchildren, Julie Braford and Ryan (Jill) Braford, and great-grandson, Drew, all of Parma, Ohio; one sister, Betty J. Einerson of the Falls; three brothers, Arlie and Frank, both of the Falls, and Robert of Princeton.

The funeral is planned for 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 24, at Zion Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Kent Garlinghouse officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, at Green-Larsen Mortuary, with a Masonic and Eastern Star memorial service slated for 7 p.m. with Worshipful Brother Ed Jamison officiating.

Interment with full military honors will be accorded at Forest Hill Cemetery.
