Born Sept. 15, 1921, in Chicago Ill, he lived in Vista for 32 years. He was a dental technician for over 25 years. He was a World War II U.S Navy veteran. He was a long time member of the Vista Elks Lodge and a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Vista.
Mr. Amenta was preceded in death by his son, Donald Amenta, in 1994. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Mary Amenta, of Vista; sons Joseph Amenta Jr. of Chicago, Ill., George Amenta of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Charles Amenta of St. Charles Ill., Robert Amenta of Gulf Port, La., Walter Amenta of San Diego and James Amenta of Las Vegas, Nev; brothers Dr. Charles Amenta of Chicago, Illinois and Donald Amenta of Ft. Myers, Fla; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 4, with rosary recited at 4 p.m., at Allen Brothers Mortuary, Vista Chapel. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 5, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Vista with Rev. Fr. Pedro Rivera officiating. There will be further services in Illinois at All Saints Catholic Cemetery in Des Plaines, Illinois. Allen Brothers Mortuary, Vista Chapel is handling arrangements.
