Mrs. Evelyn Yarian Templeton McCuen, 82, of #9 Boulder Court, Nappanee, In died Friday, March 11 at 12:54 a.m. at the Elkhart General Hospital where she was admitted Thursday. Death was unexpected.
She was born Dec. 7, 1911 in Nappanee, daughter of Jacob Yarian and Hazel C. (Smeltzer) Yarian. On Oct. 26, 1939 she married John "Jack" Templeton. He died Jan. 8, 1971. On Oct. 7, 1972 she married Chester "Chet" McCuen in Nappanee. Surviving are her husband, Chester McCuen; 1 son, Dennis Templeton, Nappanee; 1 daughter, Mrs. Richard (Susan) Pletcher, Nappanee; 4 grand-daughters, Mrs. Jeff (Angela Ames) Pletcher Stillson, Nappanee; Mrs. Andres (Jennifer Jon) Pletcher Wysong, Nappanee; Miss Alicia Templeton, Nappanee; Miss Stemphanie Templeton, Nappanee; 1 brother Eugene Yarian, Lafayette, In: 1 sister, Mrs. Genevieve Arrannts, Austin, Texas. She was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Carlyle Yarian, Robert Yarian and Frank Yarian.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 14 at 10:30 a.m. at the Nappanee United Methodist Church, Rev. Janet McFall-Brown of the Nappanee United Mthodist officiated. Burial was in South Union Cemetery in Nappanee.
Mrs. McCuen was a lifetime area resident. From 1958-1964 she worked as a secretary & accountant for Nappanee High School; from 1961-1973 was co-owner with her husband of the Templeton Oil Co. in Nappanee.
She was a member of the Nappanee United Methodist Church where she was active in the Gold Rule Sunday School Class, Rebekah Women's Circle, United Methodist Women, and for over 20 years was a volunteer for the Nappanee United Methodist Thrift Shop, member of the Nappanee Order of the Eastern Star.
Memorials may be given to the Nappanee United Methodist Church.
