Richard Campbell, 73, a retired Special Agent with the Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms Division of the U.S. Government and a former State Trooper of Mechanicsville, died April 18, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Nellwyn (Betty) B. Campbell; his son, Richard K. (Rick) Campbell and wife, Debbie; three sisters, Margaret C. Brown of Newport News, Judy C. Burton and Linda C. Cross, both of Richmond; three brothers, Dr. Thomas C. Campbell of Richmond, Erwin M. Campbell of Manquin, Va. and Dr. Walker H. Campbell of Goldsboro, N.C. Mr. Campbell was a member of Washington and Henry Lodge No. 344, AF&AM, the Scottish Rite, and a member of the Provost Guard of ACCA Temple Shrine, and a member of VFW Post No. 9808. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Mechanicsville Chapel of the Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Rd., where a Masonic memorial service will be conducted at 8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Interment Signal Hill Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
