Mr. Cosner was born and resided in Newton. Mr. Cosner was a United States Army veteran, serving in World War II from Jan. 6, 1943 to Oct. 11, 1945. He was a mechanic for Condit Motors in Newton until his retirement in 1969. Mr. Cosner was a charter member of the Newton Memorial Post 5360 VFW and a member of the Newton Fire Department Hose Co. No. 3, where he was a former chief and an exempt fireman. He also was a former member of the Newton American Legion.
He was the son of the late Arthur N. Cosner Sr. (1972) and A. Edna (Gould) Cosner (1988). Mr. Cosner is survived by his wife of 64 years, Hazel M. (LaBarre) Cosner; three nephews, Donald LaBarre and his wife, Ruth Ann; Richard LaBarre, and Ronald Lehmer and his wife, Ellen; his sister-in-law, Helen Lehmer and her husband, Walter.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St., Newton. Interment will follow in the Sparta Cemetery. Visitation was held at the funeral home with a fireman's service.
