Newton Rebecca Buckham was the 5th dau. of Andrew Buckham and Janet Smaill. There were 10 children in all so it was a very active household, with much fun and games. She married John Smith Elder on March 27, 1878 in Hinchinbrooke. To this union were born three children: Janet Smaill, George Peter Smith and Andrew William Buckham. She died at the age of 84.

01-20-1930 Newton Rebecca Buckham, wife of John S. Elder, died at the home of her son, Andrew W. Elder, of Elgin Township PQ, aged 85 years. The late Mrs. Elder was the daughter of the late Andrew Buckham and his wife Janet Smaill Buckham. Funeral service was conducted at home by Rev. Dr. MacLean of St. Andrews Church, Huntingdon PQ. She leaves her husband and three children, Jessie, wife of Findlay McDonald of Godmanchester, George P. and Andrew W., of Elgin Township PQ.
