Eleanor J. Carpenter, 80, died Tuesday June 5, 2012, in her daughter's home in Annville. She was the wife of Donald C. Carpenter, Sr. who died in 1995. Born in Lebanon on May 12, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Ira G. and Laura Foltz Bowman. Eleanor was a 1950 graduate of Lebanon High School and was employed for 25 years as a collector for the Credit Bureau of Greater Harrisburg. She also was a member of the Alpha Y-Grandale Club which she originally joined in 1952, and former member of the Brethren in Christ Church, Palmyra. Eleanor loved reading, word searches, jigsaw puzzles, board games, traveling, spending time at the beach at Wildwood, N.J., and especially spending time with her children and grandchildren. Surviving are a son, Donald C. Carpenter, Jr., and wife, Tricia of Lansdowne; three daughters, Lisa wife of David Fisher of Annville, Laurie Matters of Lebanon and Jodi wife of Doug Barrick of Palmyra; six grandchildren, Reegan and Ashley Matters, Joshua Fisher, Heather, Holly and Nicholas Carpenter; a brother, Donald Bowman and wife Lois of Lancaster; and a sister-in-law, Marion Bowman of Lebanon. She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert K. Bowman. Memorial services will be held Saturday at 7 p.m. from the Kreamer Funeral Home and Crematory, 618 E. Main St. Annville. Inurnment will be held at the convenience of the family. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Research c/o The Lustgarten Foundation, 1111 Stewart Ave. Bethpage, NY 11714 or the American Heart Association c/o of Lebanon County Division, 610 Community Way Lancaster, PA 17603.
