Ellie Allen ‘Smittie' McGlothlin
Ellie Allen "Smittie" McGlothlin, 81, of Charleston, S.C., died June 24 after a lengthy illness.
Born in Luling, Texas, Dec. 31, 1919, he was the son of the late Fred and Bessie (Rutherford) McGlothlin.
Mr. McGlothlin served during World War II and the Korean War.
He was a retired Navy Chief Boatswain 20-year veteran. After his military career, he worked at the United States Naval Supply Center, Charleston, until retiring.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were two brothers and sisters.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, the former [*], of Weatherly; sons, [*] and [*], both of Texas; Eugene, California; 10 grandchildren and two sisters.
A memorial service will be held in the Union Cemetery, Weatherly, at a date to be announced.
