Austrian archduchess and, through her marriage to Ferdinand II of Bourbon, queen both Sicilies. She influenced her husband to take intensive action against the increasing Italian national unification efforts that threatened his power. When Garibaldi's troops set out to conquer the Sicilian kingdom in 1860, a year after her husband's death, she went into exile in Rome.
