Dec. 7, 1927 - March 17, 2010 Martha passed away peacefully at her home with her loving friend and companion, Duane Rodgers, at her side.

She was born in Kansas City, Missouri, of Lewis W. and Leta Means Keplinger. She graduated from the University of Kansas, where she met and married Richard Cook, her husband of 53 years. She spent the ensuing years as a faithful wife and energetic mother and homemaker, supporting his career in pharmacy and real estate and raising a family as they lived in Iola, Kansas, Scottsdale and Flagstaff, Arizona, and finally retiring to Ventura.

Gracious sharing with friends and family remained Martha's favorite pastime throughout her life. A lifelong Methodist, Martha generously gave her time to numerous organizations: P.E.O., Music Club, the Assistance League, the Girl Scouts and a Cub Scout Den Mother. Pi Beta Phi Sorority was never far from her heart. Martha made an impression on everyone she met, she was friendly, outgoing and would go out of her way to bring small bits of joy to others lives, family and strangers alike. Martha was a member of the Ventura First United Methodist Church where she had been a shepherd to many, delivering holiday greetings and homemade treats.

She resided at the Ventura Marina Village Mobile Home Park for the past fourteen years, enjoying all the club house activities and the many friends and neighbors in the Park.

Martha was preceded in death by her mother, father, husband and two brothers, Robert L. and Donald L. Keplinger. She is survived by her daughters, Barbara and husband Larry Thomas of Dallas, Texas and Maribeth Hammond of Oxnard and sons, Jim and wife Karen of Grand Prairie, Texas and Rob and wife Debbie of Flagstaff, Arizona; and seven grandchildren, Heather, Bethy, Brian, Scott, Cory, Pamela, Bailey and great granddaughter Illianna Mae.

Martha will be dearly missed by all the lives she touched. We will miss her generous, caring, giving spirit and her lust for the ability to keep forging ahead.

Phoenix Flight in Santa Paula, CA will scatter her ashes off the Ventura Coast on the same day as the Memorial Service, to be announced.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Ted Mayr Funeral Home and Crematory, 3150 Loma Vista Road, Ventura.
