She was born Freda Maxine Brown on September 16, 1925 in Pocahontas, Ark, to the late John and Willia Brown. She graduated from high school in 1942. In a school house church service on January 31, 1943, Freda expressed her love for the Lord and was baptized in the icy cold Black River. She became a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in the early 1950's where she served as treasurer, Sunday school teacher and filled many positions during her membership. On May 29, 2012, she was accepted as a member of Heartland Baptist Church.
In 1946 on June 1st, Freda began a courtship with Orville (Shorty) Baldridge. They declared their love for each other by exchanging their vows of marriage on November 10, 1946. To this union was born two daughters, Brenda and Karen.
Freda worked as a bookkeeper for First Bank until she retired in December 1986. She had a home based bookkeeping and tax business which she continued until 1995.
Freda was an active member of the PTA and St. Louis Counsel during her daughters school years. She remained active many years after their graduations. She and several members continued to meet once a month to keep in touch until so many were unable and the group disband in 2011 after 40+ years.
Freda's husband preceded her in death July 12, 1983. She is survived by two daughters, Brenda Cleveland and Karen Baldridge, one sister Helen Sparks, Sisters-in-law Sandy Brown and Gladys Tyler and brother-in-law Bea Tyler. She has 6 grand daughters, Lisa Cleveland, Jamie Daniel, Sarah DeBrunner, Sherry English and Donna Murphy, one grandson John Jumper. She had one brother, Gerald Brown, who preceded her in death on April 25, 2012. She also leaves behind a loving family of cousins, nieces, nephews and many dear friends to mourn her passing.
Freda was a loving and caring person who left an impact on all she came in contact. The world's loss is Heaven's gain. She will be missed.
