Maria de Jesus Gonzalez was born in the small town of Juanacatlan, Jalisco to Paula Ayala and Teofilo Gonzalez on the 12th day of January in 1936, in the barrio de Tateposco.
She was the first of nine brothers and sisters who grew up on a dirt farm. She helped with raising her younger siblings while also helping to tend the crops in the field with her parents.
In 1952 when she was only sixteen the family relocated to Mexicali, BC and was split up with some younger siblings staying behind to be raised by relatives. This period also saw the tragic death of her father in an accident. She soon found housekeeper work across the border in El Centro, CA. Here she met a handsome man named Francisco Gonzalez and they were soon married in 1959 when she turned 23. This union brought forth seven children; Francisco, Maxcimiano, Armando, Ricardo, Belinda, Noemi and Efrain. She was a dedicated wife and loving mother. Initially the family started up in East LA and in 1965 relocated to Rosemead, Ca. She enjoyed getting together for family parties and celebrations. She would often be the admiration of everyone's attention at the family "fiesta". She had an infectious smile and enjoyed traveling. She loved tending to her garden and being around all her grandchildren. Even when her health began to decline she always faced each day with a will to live. She is survived by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will forever live within our hearts and her fighting spirit will never fade from our memory. Hasta que nos veamos con el Senor, no te olvidaremos, Mama!
