John McKinley was born in 1909 to Clark and Florence McKinley. During WWII he and his wife, Mary McKinley, moved to DeSoto, Indiana. According to my grandmother Mary, they had to get special permission from the DeSoto United Methodist, to move into the home on a Sunday. During this time any work on Sunday was frowned upon, boy have times changed, they were granted permission. They raised their three children, John William, jr., Peggy Ann McKinley Thornburg and my father Robert Ray McKinley in this home. Shortly after my grandfather died 1973 my parents purchased the home and myself, my brother Kyle and sister Adrienne were raised in this home. My father Robert Ray McKinley continued to live there until his death on May 24, 2000.
