Local Resident Dies Suddenly
Mrs. Ruth E. Hughes, 57, a native of Helfenstein, died suddenly at 1:00 this morning in her home at 36 East Second Street, Mount Carmel, where she lived with her nephew and niece, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Stibitz.
Mrs. Hughes, apparently in good health, was stricken with an acute heart attack. She worked as usual yesterday as an inspector in the General Cigar Company plant in Mount Carmel. Born in Helfenstein, November 6, 1902, Mrs. Hughes was a daughter of the late Peter and Laura nee' Karbley Wary. She attended Eldred Township Schools before her family moved to Mount Carmel. Mrs. Hughes was a member of First Methodist Church, Mount Carmel. Her husband, Leroy, died in 1943.
Surviving are a nephew, Walter E. Barrett, Baldwinsville, N.Y. who made his home with his aunt in his early years; two grandchildren, a brother, Lewis Wary, Mount Carmel, and a sister, Mrs. Grace Barrett, Reading. Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 2:00 in the Rothermel Funeral Home, Mount Carmel. The Rev. Carl C. Helt, pastor of First Methodist Church, Mount Carmel, will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery.
