James N. Ethridge, 88, of Abbeville, husband of the late Beatrice Adams Ethridge, died Thursday, December 1, 2011 at the Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home in Anderson. He was born in Abbeville to the late B. N. Ethridge and Elizabeth Hughes Ethridge Hawthorne. He served his country as a member of the United States Navy during World War II. Mr. Ethridge retired from Milliken after many years of dedicated service and he was a member of Westside Baptist Church in Abbeville.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Ethridge was preceded in death by his step-father, George Hawthorne and step-son, Thomas Goolsby.
He is survived by his step-daughter, Jeanette E. Goldman, and her husband Allen of Greenwood; a half-brother, Billy Hawthorne, and his wife Helen of Abbeville; a sister, Sarah Hall of Greer; and a step-granddaughter, Sharon E. Woolbright, of Greenwood.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Ethridge was preceded in death by his step-father, George Hawthorne and step-son, Thomas Goolsby.
