Lawrence S. Churray, 81, of Dunbar, died Sunday, March 13, 2011 in the Mt. St. Macrina Manor, with his loving family by his side. He was born March 8, 1930 in Monarch, a son of the late Stephen and Agnes Fetsko Churray.

He was a member of St. John the Evangelist R. C. Church, Connellsville. Lawrence was the former owner of Churray's Tavern and was Vice President and sales manager for Commercial Stone until his retirement in 1990. He was a member of the Elks, Eagles, Fairview and Slovak Clubs in Connellsville and the Bridgeport Sportsman Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Millicent R. Smitley Churray (2006); and a brother, Francis J. Churray. He is survived by two daughters: Nancy M. Hartman and husband, Bill and Pam Basinger and husband, David; two grandchildren: David L. Basinger and Michelle L. Basinger all of Dunbar and also many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held today from 7-9 P.M. and Wednesday from 1-9 P.M. in the PAUL G. FINK FUNERAL HOME, INC., 418 North Pittsburgh St., Connellsville, where a funeral service will be held Thursday at 10 A.M. with Rev. Lee Maley officiating. Interment will follow in Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown. Lawrence's family would like to extend their sincere thanks to (Albert Gallatin) Amedisys Hospice and the staff at Mt. Macrina Nursing Home for their kindness and special care.
