The son of Clarence Vernon Elmore and Jane Bourdon Zehmer Elmore and the husband of Myrtis Bassett Elmore. He was also the father of Sarah Margaret (Peggy) Elmore Cook. He lived and worked in Petersburg until his death. He was the owner of Elmore Oil Company, a distributorship of Citgo gasoline. He played golf and bridge and won many championships in each.
