Portal - James Douglas Saunders, 41, died Monday at Memorial Medical Center in Savannah from injuries received from an automobile accident. The Dayton, Ohio, native had lived in Statesboro for 11 years and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include his wife, Mercile M. Saunders, Portal; three daughters, Toshia M. Mikell, Keyshia S. Saunders and Marcia L.E. Saunders, all of Portal; five sons, James D. Saunders Jr., Jermaine D. Saunders, Tyresse L. Saunders, Antonio L. Saunders and Kevin T. Saunders, all of Portal; five sisters, Cecelia Marino, Frances Cohen, Emma Culpepper, Dreama Hunt and Janice Saunders, all of Dayton, Ohio; and three brothers, Allen Saunders, Marc Saunders and Kenneth Saunders, all of Dayton, Ohio.
The funeral will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Pine Grove Holiness Church with the Rev. Jerry Williams officiating. Burial will be in the Eastside Cemetery.
