Doris L. Olson, age 86, of Brookings, died Saturday, May 26, 2012, at Brookview Manor in Brookings.

Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at First Lutheran Church in Brookings, with interment in the church cemetery.

Visitations will be from 5-7 P.M. Tuesday at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings.

Doris Lorraine (Mundahl) Olson was born September 27, 1925, at Toronto, South Dakota, to Alvin and Palma (Molstad) Mundahl. She spent her early years and received her education at Elkton, South Dakota, and graduated from Elkton High School in 1943. She continued her education at Eastern State Normal College in Madison, South Dakota, and then taught country school for two years in Deuel County, South Dakota. She married Roy C. Olson on December 23, 1945, at Elkton. After their marriage the couple farmed in Brookings County until 1975, when they moved to Estelline. While living in Estelline, they owned and operated the motel and trailer court until 1977 when they moved to Brookings. Doris was then employed for the J.C. Penney Company until 1989. Roy died on May 24, 1991. Doris continued to work at J.C. Penney on a part-time basis.

Doris was a member of First Lutheran Church in Brookings. She especially enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family, and
reading.

Survivors include a son, Gary Olson, of Brookings; two daughters: Sherry Olson of Sioux Falls, and Ricki (Rodney) Kramer of Humboldt, South Dakota; five grandchildren: Brian, David, Mark, Dan, and Adam; twelve great-grandchildren: Tori, Zach, Caleb, Cody, Erica, Nolan, Dawson, Madeline, Kaleb, Christian, Isaiah, and Jacob; a sister, Janice (Ed) Wussow, of Pipestone, Minnesota; and three sisters-in-law: Lue Mundahl of Pipestone, Minnesota, Peggy Mundahl of Georgetown, Texas, and Elsie Moeller of Estelline, South Dakota.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, Elroy and Merlyn; and an infant sister, Lois.
