John Leonard Norris Sr., 64, of 2718 Sabine Pass Ave., died at 6:45 a.m. Saturday in Municipal Hospital after a long illness. A native of Putesky, Mo., Mr. Norris had lived in Beaumont for 16 years. He was a retired painter, and for a short time had operated the Friendly Corner Grocery store on Magnolia Avenue. He was a member of the First Baptist church. Surviving are three sons John L. Norris, Jr., of Nederland and Vance Allen Norris and Max Edwin Norris, both of Beaumont and one grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday in the Carroll-Wallace Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Oliver Beall, assistant pastor of the First Baptist Church, and the Rev. J.M. Sibley, pastor of the Calvary Baptist church, officiating. Interment will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
