~ Maternal 3rd Great G'father ~

Parentage:
Father: William (b. 1784, Suffolk, England)
Mother: Mary Scott (b.1786, Norfolk, England)
m. 9 Nov 1806,Gt Yarmouth, Norfolk, England

I've found record (there may be more) of 3 sons of William and Mary Scott: William Thomas, Robert, and John, and 2 daughters, Caroline and Elizabeth. William and Mary Scott Jackman moved to America between 1806 and 1810, moving first to Missouri, then apparently to Virginia where William Thomas was born (as stated in obit; DC states Ky), then possibly back to Missouri.

William T. moved to Barren Co, Ky in 1830; married Leah Elizabeth Steffey on 12 Feb 1834 in Barren County. Leah was also b.Va. They had their 1st two children in Missouri; moved to Ky where the remainder of their 11 children were b.Barren Co.

William T Jackman donated the land on which Mount Tabor Church (Barren County's oldest Church) was built. The Old Mt Tabor Cemetery is located about 100 yards northeast of his family cemetery.

Leah and William had 2 boys and 9 girls. Each of the girls were given a farm by their father. For years, William had a tanyard, providing leather used for making many shoes for the surrounding area before industrialization, when they became "store bought".
