Kathleen Jent Franks, age 93, formerly of Lothair, KY passed away on Sept. 08, 2013 in Monroe, OH. Mrs. Franks worked for 28 years in the dietary department of Hazard ARH as well as seventeen years as a volunteer. She was known throughout the region for baking and decorating cakes. She was a member of the Lothair Baptist Church since 1937. She was the daughter of the late Cornealius Boyer and the late Mary Meece Boyer. She is also preceded in death by first husband: Marcus Jent in 1958; second husband: Hobart Franks in 1978; one son: Bennett Jent; one grandson: Michael Jent; step-daughter: Mary Querry; two step son-in-laws: Gene Querry & Norman Strunk; step granddaughter: Brenda Huyser; two brothers; four half sisters and eight half brothers.
She is survived by one son: Billy (Cheryl) Jent of PA; two daughters: Leda (Walden) Bryant of OH & Phyllis (George) Begley of OH; one son: Bill (Sheryl) Jent; daughter-in-law: Carlene Jent of TN; three step daughters: Joyce Strunk of Hazard, KY, Nan (Ira) Rowell of GA & Emilie Stewart of GA; one step-son: Clark (Rebecca) Franks of GA; three grandchildren; six great grandchildren; thirteen step grandchildren and three special children who called her nana: Derek Lewis, Mary Rachel Hammonds & Marjorie Lynn Hammonds, along with numerous other loving friends and extended family.
Pallbearers will include: David Hammonds, Mark Jent, Derek Lewis, Steve Mann, Jerome Strunk and David Carl Wiseman.
In lieu of flowers family request donations be made to the Lothair Baptist Church; 232 Hemlock Street, Hazard, KY 41701.
