Statesboro, Georgia - Sara Lucille Brannen DeLoach, age 97 passed away on June 1, 2012. Mrs. DeLoach was a Bulloch County native who lived in Bulloch County most of her life. She graduated from Statesboro High School in 1932. She attended Georgia Teachers' College and graduated from GSCW (Milledgeville) in 1936. She taught in the Bulloch County School System in the 1930s and early 1940s. She was the oldest member of Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church, Westside, and a member for the longest number of years. She served as a volunteer in the Pink Lady Auxiliary at the local hospital and was a member of the Statesboro Bulloch County Parks and Recreation Senior Group and Westside Town and Country Garden Club. She was a past member of the Portal Homemakers' Club. Mrs. DeLoach was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Howell DeLoach, Sr., her parents, Johnny and Julia Brannen, 3 brothers, 2 sisters and a nephew.

Surviving are a son, Lee H. DeLoach and wife, Sharon, a daughter, Mary Sue D. Smith, and husband, Bob Smith, all of Statesboro, grandchildren, Dr. Brian DeLoach and wife, Holly of Statesboro, Brook Drawdy and husband, Trey, of Woodstock, Ga., Brannen Smith and wife, Haley, of Statesboro, Mary Lucy Smith of Dublin, Ga., Sarah Ann Earls and husband, Nick, of Statesboro, two great grandsons, Mixon DeLoach and Lee Drawdy and one great granddaughter, Madison Earls, a niece, Julia Ann Anderson, and many loving friends. Also surviving are two stepsons, Commander J. Howell DeLoach, Jr., and wife, Berta DeLoach, of San Antonio, Texas, and Lyle H. DeLoach and wife, Fern of St. Peters, Missouri, grandchildren Cynthia Lewis and husband, Phil of Morrow, Ohio, Rear Admiral Jay Allen DeLoach and wife, Jodi of Oak Hill, Virginia, Laura Gallegos and husband, Rudy of Pflugerville, Texas, Sylvia Curley and husband, Dr. Michael of Valley Center, California and Lynn Dennis and husband, Jim of Benton, Missouri, David DeLoach and wife, Sheryl of Fenton, Missouri, Lori Westerhold and husband, Wally of Ballwin, Missouri and Doug DeLoach of St Peters, Missouri.

Funeral services will be Monday at 11:00am at Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church with Elder John Scott officiating.

Interment will be in the church cemetery.
