Dorothy Mae Shandy, 77, Manhattan, died Friday, December 11, 1998, at home. She had been ill.

She was born February 17, 1921, in Onaga, the daughter of Charles A. and Adda Belle Brown Crumbaker. She was graduated from Onaga High School in 1939 and attended Brown-Mackie College in Salina. She lived in Manhattan since 1951. She was a deputy clerk at the Riley County Courthouse from 1973 until 1983.

Mrs. Shandy was a member of First United Methodist Church in Manhattan, a church circle, LaSertoma Club and an Extension Home Unitl.

She was married to Malvin Johnson December 12, 1943. He died October 6, 1950. She was married to Clarence L. Shandy June 12, 1954, in Manhattan. He survives.

Other survivors include sons, Larry D. Johnson, Council Grove, Robert K. Shandy, Topeka and Steven L. Johnson, Toledo, Oregon; and a daughter, Carolyn L. Taylor, Wyandotte, Michigan; brothers, Don Crumbaker, Wamego; sisters, Helen Dent, Lenexa; Frances Moyer and Carol Adolph, both in Manhattan, Nada McCool, Junction City, Ardeth Murray, Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Roberta Peters, Overland Park, and Marge Knorr, Olathe; ten grand children and three great grandchildren.

Services were at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church in Manhattan. Burial was in Sunset Cemetery in Manhattan.
