After Almyra's death in 1850, Augustus remarried on 10-12-1851 to Demaris E. Herndon Browne, a widow. Both Augustus and Demaris died within a few days of each other of yellow fever in 1855. One of their children, a daughter born a few months before their deaths, reached adulthood:
