Comander 05 (Ret) Barton Wayne Baker, Sr., 62, passed away at his home in Eufaula, Oklahoma on Thursday, May 24, 2012. He was born January 21, 1950 in Hobart, Kiowa County, Oklahoma to Barton Winford and Wanda Louise (Evans) Baker. He graduated from Gotebo High School, Gotebo, Oklahoma and Southwestern State College in Weatherford, Oklahoma.

Barton Wayne was a Registered Pharmacist and served with the United States Public Health Service and U.S. Navy. He retired in Lawton, Oklahoma in 2003 after serving 30 years. He married Janice Friesen on May 3, 1969.

Survivors include a daughter Melissa Elaine Cooper, Grove, Oklahoma; son, Barton Wayne "J.R." Baker, Eufaula, Oklahoma; his Father, Barton Baker and wife Nina, Hobart, Oklahoma; one brother David E. Baker and Pattie, Eufaula, Oklahoma; one sister, Elizabeth Johns and husband Wilbur, Anadarko, Oklahoma; grandchildren Shelby and Shae Baker; Brittany and Kyle Cooper; two great-grandchildren Keegan and Kyan Cooper; and seven nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Wanda Louise Baker, sister, Cynthia Louise Beadles, and grand-daughter-in-law, Meagan Cooper.

Funeral Services were at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at Washington Street Baptist Church, Hobart, Oklahoma with Rev. Henry Lamb and Rev. Chris Block, pastors officiating. Burial followed in the Odessa Cemetery northwest of Gotebo, Oklahoma under the direction of Ray and Martha's Funeral Home of Hobart, Oklahoma.
