Beulah Carlson

Beulah R. "Butch" Carlson, 93, of Stronghurst, Ill., died at 1:15 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 29, 2006, at Oak Lane Nursing and Rehab Center in Stronghurst.

Born Oct. 29, 1912, in Oquawka, Ill., she was the daughter of William and Mae Coghill Radmacher. On Aug. 6, 1939, she married Carl L. Carlson in Monmouth, Ill. He died on Feb. 28, 1996.

Mrs. Carlson farmed with her husband in Bald Bluff and Biggsville, Ill., and Point Pleasant Township for 40 years.

She moved to Stronghurst in 1980. She was a member of the Stronghurst United Methodist Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Joyce Omer of Pinehurst, N.C., Marjorie Ann Schaumleffel of Woodstock, Ga., and Mary Louise Knox of Reynolds, Ill.; one son, William Carlson of Biggsville; nine grandchildren and nine great–grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Banks and Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst, with family meeting friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

The funeral for Mrs. Carlson will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Banks and Beals Funeral Home, with the Rev. James Olsen officiating.

Memorials have been established for Oak Lane Nursing and Rehab Center, Stronghurst United Methodist Church, and the Stronghurst Ambulance Service.

Her oldest daughter, Joyce I., first married a Hoyt and had two children: Ralph and Kathryn. She then married Harold K. Omer on 1 Dec 1984 in Ohio; he died in 1999. Joyce died 22 May 2008 in Pinehurst, North Carolina.

Her second daughter, Marjorie Ann, married Larry Schaumleffel on 14 Jul 1961 in Roseville, Warren County, Illinois. They had two children: Laura and Steven. Marjorie died of breast cancer on 5 Jul 2009 in Marietta, Georgia.
