J. FRED ALLEN DEAD
John Frederick Allen, Emporia cattle and oil man, died Sunday night at his home at 1424 Neosho after a two months' sickness.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Roberts-Blue Funeral home and burial will be in the Memorial Lawn cemetery.
Mr. Allen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elias Vance Allen, spent his youth in Knox county, Ill., where he attended the Knoxville school of business. He came to Greenwood county in 1907 and, since that time, had been a partner of his brother, M. W. Allen, of Eureka, in the cattle and oil business.
Mr. Allen was a member of the First Presbyterian church, the Scottish rite of the Masonic order, and was a past patron of the Eastern Star. He was a former Kiwanis club member.
He is survived by his wife; a sister, Mrs. Katherine Hunsaker, Camp Point, Ill., two nieces, Mrs. Inex Simkins and Mrs. Eva Melander, both of Peoria, Ill.
