Franklin P. "Frank" Duck, of Hanover, beloved husband of Mari McKim Duck, passed away peacefully May 31, 2012.

Born April 7, 1950, in Hanover, he was a son of the late Larue E. Duck and Eva C. Moore Duck Myers.

He was a 1969 graduate of Hanover High School.

Frank began working in the printing field before becoming a construction worker. In 1982, he began his career as a professional fire fighter for the Borough of Hanover and served 29 years before retiring in July of 2011.

He was a 1986 graduate of the St. Joseph Hospital Paramedic Program in Lancaster and was one of the original paramedics for Medic 46, retiring from there in December of 2007 after 21 years. Frank was a former Fire Chief of the Hanover Fire Company #1. He was a member of the International Association of Fire Fighters Local #2045, where he had served as treasurer of 25 years. He was also a member of the Greater Hanover Professional Fire Fighter Association, Pennsylvania Professional Fire Fighter Association, Central Pennsylvania Professional Association, York County Volunteer Fire Fighter Association, and was a life member of the Clearview Fire Company #3. In addition, he was a member of the McSherrystown Fish & Game Association, a life member of the North American Hunting Club and was an Eagle Scout for Troop 118.

Frank enjoyed woodworking and cabinet making and was highly sought after for those capabilities. An avid outdoorsman, he always looked forward to rifle and archery hunting, and watching NASCAR.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are his daughters, Jennifer S. Laughman, and Jolene A. Little and husband, George; three grandchildren, Emiley Laughman, and Christian and Allison Little; two step-grandchildren, Kortney and Kirsten Little; one great-granddaughter, all of Hanover; two brothers, Robert L. Duck and wife, Peggy, of Hanover, and James P. Duck and wife, Cindy, of Wellsville; and one sister, Patricia A. Wright and husband, Edward, of Hanover.

He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, C. Arthur Myers; sister, Betty L. Olson; paternal grandparents, Lloyd and Lizzie R. Phillips Duck; and maternal grandparents, Willis and Rietta Moore.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m., June 5, 2012, at the Hanover Foursquare Church, Hanover, with The Rev. Kevin Orewiler officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
