Lyndal Eugene Lasater, 88, passed away quietly in the home of his daughter Connie, May 29, 2012. Lyndal was born August 9, 1923 in Bonham, Fannin Co, TX to Thomas Bird Lasater and Sara Jane (Jennie) Barr. He met his sweetheart Rosie Louise Henthorne at the Bluebird Café, Logan, Utah where he was attending Radio Mechanics School at the NTS EE & RM School (after he enlisted in the USMC) in Logan and they married March 5, 1945 at the home of his mother in Sherman, Grayson Co, TX.

Lyndal joined the Civilian Conservation Corp in 1940 at the age of 17 and received an Honorable Discharge in 1942 when he joined the US Marine Corps. His Unit helped with the clean-up and rebuilding of the air strips at Pearl Harbor right after it was bombed during WWII. He was part of the USMC VMF-217 and was overseas as part of the strike on Guam from December 1943-February 1945. He received an Honorable Discharge in November 1945 at the rank of MTSgt.

(Master Technical Sargent). He enlisted in the US Army in 1948 and was part of the 4th Infantry Division at Fort Ord, California. His last assignment was as Chief, Maintenance Team Opns Dept, Project NCO, Floating Nuclear Power Plants, Ft. Belvoir, VA and retired with the rank of MSgt (E7) in May 1966. He spent 26 years serving his Country and making a difference with his work in the nuclear field.

His real life work was his Family. He wanted to find out about his extended family, Family History and Genealogy, and started his search in June 1960 which lasted for 51 years. He became accomplished in genealogy and gathered just under 55,000 family names and relationships and has shared his findings with his immediate and extended family.

Lyndal was a very gentle, kind man who loved his family and in the last few days of his life expressed that love many times. No matter how he was feeling he always said "thank you" to anyone who helped with his care and left them with a big smile.

He was preceded in death by his life-ling sweetheart Rosie, and is survived by his brother Fred Hugh Allen (Mildred) of Sikeston, MO; son Thomas William (Sandra); his two daughters Lynda Jean Murray (Frank) and Connie Louise (Jim); 8 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 2nd at the Holladay-Cottonwood Memorial Mortuary, 4670 South Highland Drive, Holladay, Utah, Salt Lake City, Utah, where he will be buried with full Military Honors.
