It's sad we don't know much about Alice. She is the daughter of Patrick Duffy a Sawyer as stated on the marriage license. Borleas and Alice are first seen together in the 1851 Census where she is a servant in the Fielding home. I believe she was his girlfriend at that time. They married June 1851 in St George in Hume, Manchester. I cannot find an 1861 Census for Alice or Borleas. In 1855 they buried their first born son Burrows. I have the death certificate. He died of bronchitis. Borleas is the father on the death certificate. This is the last documentation of Borleas. By the 1871 Census it's only John the 2nd born son, and Alice the Mom. Alice is listed on the 1871 Census as a widow. The Death Certificate states she was the widow of Borleas Fielding. She died of bronchial asthma. Her daughter in law Margaret Taylor Fielding was the witness at her death, at 13 Garrett Street. Death was at 73 Murray St. This matches the 1871 Census address. No burial record can be found. If you know any family history please contact me...thanks Patti
