SAN ANGELO Don W. Daniel peacefully passed away on Wednesday, May 30, 2012, in his home in San Angelo. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2012, in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Johnson's Funeral Home.
Don was born on April 3, 1932, in Lampasas, Texas, to Gordon and Orlena Daniel. He graduated from Bronte High School and then attended Texas Tech University. In 1955, he joined the United States Army and served until a family medical emergency led to an honorable discharge in 1961. Don then went to work at GTE where he met his wife of 52 years, Wanda Joy Baker. He worked for GTE for 39 years before retiring in 2000.
Don was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Joy Daniel; and daughter Tavia Renee Daniel.
He is survived by his son and his wife; his daughter and her husband; and three grandchildren.
Don was a deacon of the Baptist Ccurch for over 50 years. He enjoyed many hours in his shop creating flower arrangements for any and every occasion and spending as much time as possible with his family.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Southland Baptist Church, the Friendship Sunday school class, Dr. Ty Hughston and Hospice nurse Rene Rendon.
