Funeral services for Mr. John David "Johnny" Barnette, Sr. (Papa), the Cuckoo Clock Doctor, age 59, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2012 in the chapel of Lawrence-Sorensen Funeral Home, with Bro. Jim Griffith and Dr. Wade Paris officiating. Burial will follow in Hollywood Cemetery.
Mr. Barnette died peacefully Saturday, May 19, 2012 at his home with his wife and son by his side.
He was born in Jackson, TN to the late James R. Barnette and Sarah Kaltreider Barnette.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Harvey "Jimmy" Barnette.
Surviving are his wife, Kathy Lamport Barnette of Jackson; a son, John David "Jay" Barnette II of Jackson; two grandchildren, Kirsten Leanne Barnette and Kaitlyn Georgina Barnette, both of Germantown, TN; a brother, Billy Ray Barnette and wife Gay of Jackson and his sisters, Nellie Barnette Paris and husband Wade of Harrisonville, MO, and Helen Barnette Fowler and husband Larry of Jackson.
Friends may visit with the family from 5 to 7 p.m. today, and from 12 Noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
