Only son of John William Robinson and Mary Lafayette May. Joseph died nine months after his mother. His sister, Francis Kathleen "Fannie" Garrett Robinson stated that at his death, from typhoid fever, Joseph said "I am glad to die, so I can be with my dear Mother." He was buried in the Robinson lot in the Mount Gilead Church Cemetery.
