Carmen Lorraine (Allen) Gallaher

November 5, 1928 ~ May 24, 2012

Our courageous and inspiring Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Aunt and Friend ~ You will always be in our hearts.

Carmen was born November 5, 1928, to Frank and Sylvia (Montague) Allen In Spokane, WA. She, her parents, and her two brothers, Orval and Ralph, and her sister, Laverna, were traveling to the Coast for a work opportunity for their dad when they got four flat tires in Wenatchee. They took that as a sign, so this is where they settled. Carmen went through school in Wenatchee and graduated from Wenatchee High School in 1946. She had met the love of her life, Charles "Chuck" Gallaher, when she was just 14 and they married June 6, 1948. Carmen worked for the telephone company for five years and then worked for a couple of fruit warehouses, including Cascadian Fruit Shippers for 21 years. Carmen enjoyed working with ceramics, crocheting, tending her roses and caring for her family. Carmen lost chuck in 1982, but he was always in her heart.

Carmen was also preceded in death by her parents; her siblings; her dear friends, Ethel Turnipseed and Jeanne Belt; and her grandson, Brenton Jones. Carmen leaves behind a legacy of truth, love and kindness that will never be forgotten. She did an amazing job as wife, mother and grandmother and it shows in the lives of those she left behind. Carmen is survived by her three sons, Chuck Jr. (Debbie), Rex (Holly) and Kevin (Nancy); her six grandchildren, Bob Gallaher (Michelle), Darci Winegarden (Blaine), Allison Frazier (Heath), and Adam, Spenser and Jeremy Gallaher; ten great-grandchildren, Ashley and Courtney Bowes, Micah and Alex Jones, Ryan Winegarden and Libby, Reese, Hudson and Jase Gallaher and Tayden Frazier; several nieces and nephews, grandnieces and nephews, and great-grandnieces and nephews.

Thanks to Dr. David Hougland and Linda for the excellent healthcare, which enabled Carmen to enjoy her life to its fullest and special thanks to Rhonda Bellinger and the excellent staff at Blossom Valley Assisted Living for loving and caring for Carmen. You truly made her past three years an adventure.
