From Mrs. Marvin Scott's History of Henry County, Alabama: "Dr. John H Stovall served as a surgeon in the CSA. After the war, he practiced medicine continuously for 65 years. He had lived at Lawrenceville, Clopton, Gainesville Florida, and Columbia Alabama. Dr. Frank S. Twitty and Dr. John H. Stovall perfected a treatment for tuberculosis and attracted wide commendation of American Medical Magazines and of English Medical Periodicals. A graduate of Franklin Medical College of Augusta, GA, a branch of the University of Georgia in 1859."
