PHYSICIAN'S WIFE IS LAID TO LAST REST
Simple Services Held for Mrs. John L. Kirkpatrick at "Little Church"
Funeral services for Mrs. Frances Chandler Kirkpatrick, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Chandler and wife of Dr. John L. Kirkpatrick, were conducted yesterday afternoon at the Little Church of the Flowers in Glendale. Mrs. Kirkpatrick passed away Saturday at her home at 1723 North Kenmore avenue.
The services consisted of scriptural readings and prayer by Dr. Carl S. Patton, pastor of First Congregational Church, to which Mrs. Kirkpatrick belonged. Notable among the selections was the Twenty-Third Psalm with its assurance:
"Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil, for Thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff, the comfort me." And again: "The sufferings of this present time," Dr. Patton read, "are not worthy to be compared with the glory that shall be revealed to us...Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid."
The brief service was concluded with a prayer by Dr. Patton in which he gave thanks for "all men and women who by the sweetness and constancy of their souls have left a light to shine for us upon the pathway of our lives."
So many were the floral pieces sent by friends that the funeral church was filled to overflowing with them.
