LaVergne Appel Aldrich

GARFIELD - LaVergne Appel Aldrich, 79, died Sept. 21, 1997, at her home. She was born April 23, 1918, in Rush County, the daughter of Heinrich and Martha Irene Hinkel Appel. A lifetime Pawnee County resident, she was a homemaker. She belonged to the Methodist Church, Garfield, and the Ladies Farm Bureau, Pawnee County. On Sept. 5, 1937, she married Charles E. Aldrich at Hays. He survives.

Other survivors include: two sons, Charles Phillip, Great Bend, and Stanley D., Garfield; a daughter, DeAnna Schumacher, Scotts Bluff, Neb.; two sisters, Darlene Ellings, Preston, and Vernita Kahler, Ottawa; 13 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Marjorie Malara and
Aletha Libberton.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, Larned, with the Rev. Phil Morris Presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and until service time Wednesday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Garfield cemetery. Memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society in care of the mortuary.
