The many friends of Mrs. James Ross (Rachel Larimer) Mellon were shocked to hear of her death at her home in Pittsburgh, Pa., on Wednesday night. A telegram to Col. H. M. de Montmollin which announced the sad news, stated that death came suddenly as a result of a stroke of paralysis.
Mr. and Mrs. Mellon have been winter residents of Palatka for years, and had returned to their Pittsburgh home only a few days before Mrs. Mellon's last illness.
Mrs. Mellon was loved and admired by all for her unassuming manner and for her beautiful Christian character. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church and was active in all its enterprises.
The deep sympathy of the entire community is extended to the bereaved husband two sons and daughter. (Times-Herald Obituary dtd Friday, 9 May 1919.)
