McCOMB, MISS., Nov. 18 — This afternoon at 2 o'clock a large number of relatives and friends attending, he remains of the late Captain John J. White, who died Saturday, were laid to rest.

Rev. B. C. Bell, of the First Presbyterian Church, officiated. He was assisted by Dr. C. W. Grafton, of Union Church, Miss., a boyhood friend of Captain White; Rev. R. V. Lancaster, former pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of McComb, now president of Belhaven College.

A short service was held at the late residence of the deceased, after which the funeral procession proceeded to the First Presbyterian Church. "Near, My God, to Thee" was played as an organ prelude. The officiating minister then delivered a prayer. After a song, "It Is Well With My Soul," by the quartet, Rev. Mr. Bell read from the nineteenth and ninety-first Psalms and Corinthian i, 15.

Rev. J. H. Lane, of South McComb Baptist Church, then delivered a prayer, after which the quartet rendered "Jesus, Lover of My Soul."

Rev. Mr. Bell then delivered the funeral address. His theme was "Thou shalt come to thy grave in a full age like a shock of corn in his season." - Job v, 26.

Addresses were delivered also by Rev. Dr. C. W. Grafton and Rev. Dr. R. V. Lancaster. Rev. P. D. Hardin then said a prayer. A song by the quartet, "Asleep in Jesus," ended the service at the church. The procession then went to the McComb Cemetery, where, after a brief service, led by the pastor, interment was had.

The active pallbearers were: Hon. F. H. Lotterhos, Hon. W. B. Mixon, D. C. Lenoir, L. B. Sedgwick, G. W. Andrews, R. T. Quinn, all of McComb.

Honorary pallbearers were: P. C. Enochs, Jackson, Miss.; Dr. O. B. Quinn, McComb, Miss.; Dr. W. H. Froten, Magnolia, Miss.; Dr. W. C. Vaught, Magnolia, Miss.; Dr. A. P. Sparkman, Magnolia, Miss.; Charles Humphrey, Crystal Springs, Miss.; T. L. Cotton, Summit, Miss.; Prof. H. C. Hughes, McComb, Miss.; W. B. McKenna, McComb, Miss.; B. A. Heidenreich, McComb, Miss.; W. M. McColgan, McComb, Miss.; Bolling Arthur Johnson, Chicago, Ill.

The quartet included W. T. Denman, McComb, Miss.; M. Hainer, McComb, Miss.; Rev. Theodore Whitfield, McComb, Miss.; Anthony Fly, McComb, Miss.

Ushers at the church were: E. H. Martin, McComb, Miss.; Mat Harper, McComb, Miss.

The business men of McComb, by universal consent and voluntarily and without proclamation, closed their offices, stores, etc., from 2 o'clock until 5 o'clock, during funeral services.
