CHOD joined the Marines during WW11. After the war, he became well a known hairstylist in San Diego and California. He was recognized as an expert in hair design, hair cuts, colorist, all-around award-winning designer of coiffeur throughout the USA. He owned 6 beauty salons with the help of his 2nd wife Glenna. known as Charles Hairstylists in San Diego. His career began in the Walter Scott's Department store's beauty salon downtown San Diego. He opened his first salon on the ground floor of the El Cortez Hotel then the tallest building in San Diego. The name of his salons was Charles Hairstyles. His 2nd & 3rd salons were on Broadway at 11th & 12. Next, he opened a salon in Bird Rock, La Jolla with Glenna's nephew Everett Mills as manager. Later he opened other salons and a beauty school of hair design in east San Diego. He had a variety of interests such as time in the ring as a boxer; Champion boat racer of Class C roundabouts; waterskiing, enjoyed duck hunting and craving ducks out of wood; skeet shooting and clay shooting competitions; owned two planes one formally owned by movie actor Wallace Barry. He loved parties; had an infectious laugh loved singing in the shower and harmonizing with his wife Glenna, brother Howard and his wife Jackie; loved his hunting dogs and driving fast cars. He was an artist and loved to draw but not often enough. He first married young to his high school sweetheart and had a daughter named Trudy. In 1946 he married Glenna (Payne)Schneider, stepdaughter Karen; 3rd married Virginia, Mrs. Michigan 1950 and stepson Greg; Married 4th Connie J. Howard 1974 and had his only son Adam now of Missouri; 5th married Jan of San Diego.
