Born March 24, 1929 in Prague, Nebraska, Mr. Hynek was the son of Joseph and Dora Kalina Hynek. He married Joyce Leslie on November 2, 1950 in Edina, Missouri. She survives.
Mr. Hynek was a member of Madison Park Christian Church. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren and enjoyed gardening, bird watching and his cat.
Mr. Hynek was employed at Electric Wheel for 33 years until their closing and then at Beckman Pallet & Lumber Company for 20 years until his retirement. He also worked part time as a custodian for PAM Printers for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce; three sons, Roger Hynek and his wife Janet of Quincy, Dale Hynek and his wife Rosemary of Chicago and Randy Hynek and his wife Joan of Barry; eight grandchildren, Ryan Hynek of Ft. Collins, CO., Cory Hynek and his wife Elizabeth of Washington, IL., John Hynek, Steve Hynek, Adam Hynek and Jerad Hynek all of Quincy, Michael Hynek of Chicago and Emily Hynek and her fiance' Ryan Kath of Edwardsville, IL.; a great granddaughter, Paige Hynek of Quincy; two brothers, Victor Hynek of Macomb and Emil Hynek and his wife Julia of Industry; a sister in law, Dorothy Hynek of Morris Bluff, Nebraska; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Hynek was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Raymond Hynek and Arthur Hynek.
Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 10:30 in Madison Park Christian Church by Pastor Bruce Willard and Pastor Keith Ehresman. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday evening from 3:00 to 6:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home and Monday from 9:30 until the time of services at the church.
Memorials may be made to Blessing Foundation for Hospice or to Madison Park Christian Church.
