Ina Louise Red, age 96, of Mabelvale, AR, passed away peacefully to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 27, 2012. She was born on January 27th, 1916, in Emory, TX to Warner Odell and Lillian Dismuke Looney.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters Thelma Campbell, Gertrude Looney, Verna Lee Morris, Carmen George and brothers Horace Looney, J.D. Looney, Warner Looney and Doyle Looney; her husband, J.H. Red Sr.; her sons Vernon Shepherd, Cecil Shepherd, Nicholas Shepherd, Paul Shepherd and her daughter Lillian Sisson.

Louise is survived by one son, Jimmy Shepherd and his wife Joyce of Hot Springs, AR, two daughters-in-law Mary Lee Shepherd of Sheridan and Floy Shepherd of North Little Rock and 10 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Louise, or "Nanny" as she was called by her grandchildren, was the matriarch of her family. Through her steadfast faith and strong family values, she raised her family of five children during hard times with very few resources. She set the example for her family and others through the telling of her life stories and the lessons she learned. Despite many tragedies in her life, she remained calm and ever faithful to the Lord. She was a longtime member of Olive Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Mabelvale.

The family would like to express their appreciation for the exceptional care given by her caretakers, Jeanette Shepherd, Janice Farr, Carolyn Clark and Diane Davis and to the Sheridan Healthcare and Rehabilitation facility.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 30th at Roller-Drummond Funeral Home, 10900 Interstate 30, Little Rock, Arkansas 72209 (501) 455-5800. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 31st at the funeral home with burial at Forest Hills Memorial Park.
