JoAnn Bittner of Liscomb passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at Ellsworth Municipal Hospital in Iowa Falls, Iowa.
JoAnn Johnson was born on June 27, 1931 in Steamboat Rock, Iowa. She was the daughter of Ben and Julia (Grievs) Johnson. She attended school in Steamboat Rock graduating with the class of 1948. On January 28, 1953 ,she was united in marriage to Leland Bittner in Union, Iowa, they had lived in Liscomb for the last 54 years. JoAnn had worked in the Liscomb and BCL school lunch program for 11 years and The Trading Post in Liscomb for 2 years. Joann was a member of the Liscomb Church of Christ Church, Ladies Aid, and the Hobby Club. She enjoyed basketball on TV, singing with her brothers and sisters when they were together for holidays and her favorite thing was to cook for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren as she had a great love for all of them.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons; Greg (Paula) Bittner of Eldora and Scott Bittner of Union, grandchildren ; Jeff Bittner(Trina Stringer), Heather Bittner (Cory Ratliff), Adrian Wallace ( Alano) and Grant Wallace (Samantha), 6 great-grandchildren, nieces , nephews and a host of friends.
In death JoAnn rejoins her parent's, Ben and Julia, her husband Leland in 2010, 3 sisters and 1 brother.
She was laid to rest in the Steamboat Rock Cemetery, Steamboat Rock.
Pallbearers were Mark Proescholdt, Lane Rittgers, Hank Penner, Randy Eckel, Kevin Eckel, Stanley Eckel and John Vry. Honorary Pallbearers were Karen Bachman, Carl Proescholdt, Gordy and Marvel Clemons and Barb and Joe Knight.
