Death of a War Veteran – G.P. Bennett of Clintonville Meets with Untimely End
Clintonville, Wis., Feb 24 – G.P. Bennett, a veteran of the Civil War, was scalded to death in a hot water tank at his mill at Ayer, Mich. His body was brought to his home in this city and was buried last Tuesday under the auspices of the Grand Army. He was a Lieutenant of Company E, Sixteenth Vermont Infantry, and was with the thin line of Vermont troops that withstood Pickett's charge at Gettysburg. He leaves a wife and son.
