Clifford Devaian (DeVern) Aaron, Jr.
On January 31, 1949, a precious baby boy was born at St. Mary’s Hospital in Galveston, Texas to the proud parents Clifford and Leona Aaron, Sr., they named him Clifford Devaian (DeVern) Aaron, Jr. He was one of the five children born to this union.
Clifford was raised in Texas City by his parents and his step-mom Ocie Mae Aaron. He graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1967.
Clifford served in the U. S. Army; in 1978, he began working for Galveston County Drainage District #2 until his retirement.
In 1980, he married the love of his life, Alberta Young Aaron.
He loved to joke with family and friends, cook, ride with his friends, watch western movies and spending many unconditional hours with his family, but his most important love was helping out in anyway he could.
Clifford D. Aaron, Jr. died on February 18, 2011, at 6:08 a.m. surrounded by his family and friends at his bedside. Preceding him in death was his father, Clifford D. Aaron, Sr., mother, Leona Aaron, step-mom Ocie Mae Scott Aaron; siblings, Linnie Ruth Aaron Williams and Lauranetta Aaron Solomon, Douglas Watson.
His cherished memories are left with is wife, Alberta Aaron; his two daughters Leona Aaron and Geneva Y. Collins; one grand-daughter, Alexis N. Collins; one sister Florce Robinson; brother and sister-in-laws, James Williams (Julia), Johnny R. Young (Lettie), Virginia A. Walker (Clifford), Carrie Bennett (Harold), Mary A. Francis and Leroy Young (Shelia); two god-children Ashley Francis and Rashaad Robinson; devoted cousin, Paralee Roberts (Mama); Two “play” sons Ahmaal Davis and Landry Cravens; two best friends Carl Davis and John Ellison; a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members and friends.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, February 25th at the Mainland Funeral Home Chapel. Home Going Services will be 11:00 a.m., February 26, 2011, at Greater St. Matthews Baptist Church, 6333 Highway 6 in Hitchcock. Pastor W. L. Randall, Jr., officiating Burial will follow at aaron Memorial Cemetery in Hitchcock.
