Ivan Botts Rites Monday at Ord
Funeral services were held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Hastings-Pearson chapel at Ord for Ivan Botts, who died Friday. The Rev. Dale Scheffler of Ord officiated.
Mrs. Sharon Mason of Ord, accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Viola Kellison of Ord, sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Abide With Me".
Pallbearers were Wm. Heuck, Clifford Flynn, S. A. Waterman, Ed Shoemacker, Carl Young, and Jens Nielson, all of Ord. Burial was in the Ord cemetery.
Mr. Botts died Friday after a lingering illness at the Schroeder Rest Home where he had been a patient for almost three weeks. He as 88 years of age.
Ivan Botts, son of Sidney and Miriam Botts, was born Oct. 18, 1871 in Hancock County, Ill. As a young man he moved to Iowa and on Jan. 14, 1897, he and Orilla Jane Lary were married at Grant, Ia.
Shortly after a marriage the couple moved to Valley County and made their home in Maiden Valley near Ord, where he engaged in carpenter work and farming. They lived there until 1929 when they moved to Ord. Mr. Botts moved to Wood River in May, where he made his home with his daughter Miss Deane Botts.
Survivors include one son Larry of Wood River; four daughters; Mrs. Blanche Inness of Ord, Mrs. Amie Guggenmos of Olympia, Wash., Miss Deane Botts of Wood River, and Mrs. Jennie Anderson of Wray, Colo., one brother, Clyde Botts of Elliot, Ia., 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
His parents, his wife and one sister and two brother preceded him in death.
